Laboratory Quality Management (LQM)

Program Overview

Graduate students are introduced to medical laboratory quality management along with research methods and presentation skills. This program includes a research thesis and focuses on the principles of quality management systems and their applications in a clinical laboratory. Likewise, it prepares medical technologists for the management of a clinical laboratory.

Goals and Objectives

Goal 1: To provide comprehensive training in laboratory quality management.

1.1: By the end of the first year, 100% of students will demonstrate proficiency in the principles and applications of quality management systems (QMS) through successful completion of relevant coursework and assessments (MBS 560 and MBS 558).

1.2: By the end of the program, 100% of students will be able to design, implement, and evaluate a quality management system in a clinical laboratory setting, demonstrated through their thesis projects and practical assessments.

Goal 2: To develop strong research and analytical skills in students.

2.1: By the end of the first year, 100% of students will demonstrate competency in research methodologies, data analysis, and scientific writing through coursework and research proposals (REC 502, 503 and 504).

2.2: Within the program duration, all students will complete and defend a research thesis related to laboratory quality management, contributing to the body of knowledge in the field.

Goal 3: To enhance leadership, management, and communication skills.

3.1: Integrate three relevant MBA courses (Organizational Behavior, Management Control & Performance, and Leadership in Organizations) into the MBS-LQM curriculum within the first year of the program.

3.2: By the end of the program, 100% of students will demonstrate effective communication, teamwork, and leadership skills through group projects, presentations, and participation in clinical rotations.

Admission Requirements

  1. A bachelor's degree accepted by The Ministry of Education (MOE) in a related field.
  2. A satisfactory scholastic average; a minimum grade average of "good" in the bachelor’s degree.

  5. The graduate study application must be accompanied by a non-refundable application fee payable to Alfaisal University, which is equal to SAR 600.

Laboratory Quality Management is a 2-year program

Tuition Fees

Students are allowed to repeat a maximum of 6 CH during their study without incurring extra fees. If students exceed the allowed CH, the normal CH rate will apply.

Scholarships

Alfaisal University provides thesis scholarship up to 50% for thesis programs only. You need to fulfill the following requirements & conditions:

  • Cumulative GPA (3.00 out of 4.00 and above) by the end of the first academic year.
  • Full payment of the total tuition fees (100,000 SAR) by the end of the first academic year.
