Cancer Nanoscience

Program Overview

The Cancer Nanoscience track will prepare graduates for diverse careers ranging from basic cancer research to biotech companies moving cutting-edge nanotechnology into the cancer clinic. Students will learn advanced concepts and new methodologies that guide cancer diagnosis and personalized targeted therapies with special focus on cancer bioinformatics, nanodiagnositics and nanotherapeutics. The student-centered training program provides opportunities to conduct interdisciplinary research under the guidance of world-class faculty at Alfaisal University, King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center and KACST.

Mission Statement

The program aspires to:
Provide world-class education that incorporates cutting-edge research and intellectual property development in cancer biology and cancer nanoscience to prepare our graduates to become leaders in developing knowledge-based economy and health care in KSA. Enable our graduates to seek careers in academia, and the industrial R & D sectors. Establish partnerships with other colleges at au and research institutions like KFSHRC, KACST, KAUST, and private and government stakeholders and engage them in fostering an innovation-based economy.

Goals And Objectives

Prepare a high-quality national cadre capable of working in the research centers of science, engineering, and medicine; particularly in basic and translational cancer research.Promote collaboration between Alfaisal university and other private and governmental universities.

Participate in educating the various sectors of the society in cancer biology and nanobiology to foster societal sustained partnership.

Career Opportunities

Graduates can be employed in research-oriented institutions in academia, the industrial R & D and consulting sectors.

Admission Requirements

  1. A bachelor's degree accepted by The Ministry of Education (MOE) in a related field.
  2. A satisfactory scholastic average; a minimum grade average of "good" in the bachelor’s degree.
  3. Alfaisal Graduates or applicants who come from a country or political entity where English is not the official language adequate proficiency in English to do graduate work, as evidenced by

  4. Applicant should provide one recent letter of recommendation from professors who taught or from a manager at the workplace.
  5. The graduate study application must be accompanied by a non-refundable application fee payable to Alfaisal University, which is equal to SAR 600.
  6. An Interview with the applicant may be requested if required.
Duration

Cancer Nanoscience is a 2-year program

Tuition Fees

Students are allowed to repeat a maximum of 6 CH during their study without incurring extra fees. If students exceed the allowed CH, the normal CH rate will apply.

Scholarships

Alfaisal University provides thesis scholarship up to 50% for thesis programs only. You need to fulfill the following requirements & conditions:

  • Cumulative GPA (3.00 out of 4.00 and above) by the end of the first academic year.
  • Full payment of the total tuition fees (100,000 SAR) by the end of the first academic year.
